About Willow Tree Therapy Services

At Willow Tree Therapy Services, I use a combination of evidence based therapeutic approaches, individualised for each child, to support them to connect with others and feel heard, confident, and respected. I am passionate about helping not only the children I see, but also, their entire support network, their family, and staff at their schools. Parents and caregivers are given strategies and skills to supplement and support treatment in order to provide the most effective outcome. Like you, I want your child to reach their full potential, to be able to communicate and feel heard, to find joy in human connection, and to experience a fulfilling life.

Based in East Yorkshire, I work across the Yorkshire and Humber regions, offering a range of services for children with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN), providing assessment, diagnosis, reports, home therapy programmes and individual therapy, in person or online.

I work with children aged between 0 and 18 years, who have a range of communication difficulties, covering the following clinical areas:

  • Attention and Listening difficulties
  • Augmentative and alternative communication
  • Autism
  • Developmental Language Disorder (previously known as Specific Language Impairment, Language Disorder, Developmental language impairment)
  • Expressive language delay
  • Learning Disabilities
  • Receptive language delay
  • Selective mutism
  • Social communication disorder
  • Speech sound delays and disorders

More than just therapy

Willow Tree Therapy Services is excited to be able to offer two fantastic, brand new clinic rooms for hire. These are available for a variety of different days and times, for anyone needing a calm, peaceful space to work with clients. In the summer of 2023 there will also be a beautiful new, sensory room for private hire for client’s to enjoy with their families and caregivers.

Set just outside of the village of Skirlaugh, in East Yorkshire, Willow Tree clinic is a brand-new building, set within 5 acres of land where there are resident ducks, goats, alpacas, and in the near future, donkeys, to see. The building itself consists of two clinic rooms, a (soon to be) sensory room, a small waiting area, toilet facilities and a small kitchen with tea and coffee making facilities. There is adequate parking on site for a number of vehicles and access at agreed times to the land and the animals.

The clinic rooms have been designed to be communication friendly with calm, neutral colours and can be hired on an hourly, half day or full day basis. Longer term contracts can also be considered.

The unique sensory room will have a range of bespoke equipment, creating both a calming and interactive atmosphere for children and young people to relax and self-regulate in a safe environment.

Kids with non preferred behaviors are NOT bad kids. We are responsible for taking the time to ask “WHY” the behaviors are occurring. This resource from neurowild is a brilliant and quick way to reframe an entire situation and support these kids appropriately in the way they need and deserve xxHeyyyy.

I put this resource together today.

I’m hoping it will be useful in helping adults identify and appreciate all the things that may be contributing to overwhelm and diminished mental capacity in our ND kids.

Because the first thoughts when a neurodivergent kid is having a hard time should not be ‘uncooperative’, ‘non compliant’, ‘disruptive’, or ‘disobedient’.

There are so many other factors at play.
And kids do well when they can (Dr Ross Greene).
In other words, this kid is doing as well as they can with the resources that they have.

I would love for adults to assume that there is a really good reason for all behaviour. And when our kids are properly supported, their ‘challenging behaviour’ happens waaaay less frequently.

    I’m hoping this resource helps.
Because we are all doing our very best.

    This is free on TPT.
If you search Neurowild and filter by free, you’ll find all my free stuff. And you can set up a free, non-teacher account.

    What do you think?
